New Volunteer Position: Looking for a Care Closet Coordinator!

Safe Families Charlotte is impacting the lives of socially isolated families every day in our city! It takes a community of loving people wrapping around hurting families to keep families intact in our community.

We’re looking to add a volunteer Care Closet Coordinator to our team to help us better serve families in need who partner with us and our volunteers.

When a Safe Families hosting of a child whose parent is experiencing a crisis begins, we often have only 1-2 days’ notice. Many of the children who we host have very little clothing or other items when they come to us. We are launching a central Care Closet to allow us to rapidly get items such as diapers, clothing, car seats, and welcome baskets to our volunteers and partnering families right when it’s needed.

The need: Someone with a gift for organization, leading a team of volunteers, and proactive service.

The basics: The Care Closet Coordinator will oversee inventory in a central storage unit, coordinate resource donations, receive requests for volunteer resource needs, and coordinate a team of delivery volunteers who will pick up and drop off resources when needed.

The commitment: This volunteer role is a commitment of approximately 15 hours each month. Day-to-day oversight and coordination will be mostly remote, but this role will require periodic in-person visits to the Care Closet to take inventory, stock donations, and train delivery volunteers. We ask for a minimum 1 year commitment to this position.
